Introducing ads http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2009/01/08/introducing-ads/ http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2009/01/08/introducing-ads/#comments Thu, 08 Jan 2009 11:20:07 +0000 admin http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2009/01/08/introducing-ads/ As you know we’ve been providing Moneytrackin’ as a free service uninterrupted since May 2006, and over 60,000 people all around the world have been using thus taking advantage of it.

Our idea is to keep Moneytrackin’ always free, but it’s complicated considering the current global economic situation. That’s why we are introducing advertisements for testing purposes in order to check how they perform, and see if we can cover some basic expenses such as the servers’ monthly cost.

Hope it doesn’t get too annoying, of course if you have something to say don’t hesitate to tell us!

Added two new file formats on import http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/09/23/added-two-new-file-formats-on-import/ http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/09/23/added-two-new-file-formats-on-import/#comments Tue, 23 Sep 2008 16:07:43 +0000 admin http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/09/23/added-two-new-file-formats-on-import/ From now on you’ll be able to import Norma 43 and Qif 99 files to your Moneytrackin’ account.

Norma 43 (also known as Cuaderno 43) is a widely used financial format in Spain. Most of spanish bank allow their customers to download his financial data in this format, and as we are spaniards we’re very proud to support it.

Qif is a common financial format for personal finances applications (originally developed by Intuit Quicken). As of today Moneytrackin’ accepted QIF files in his 2001 version, but from now on also will accept QIF 99, an old format but also widely used.

If you find an incompatibility with any of the import formats don’t hesitate to contact us at contact@moneytrackin.com and we’ll do our best to improve the import process of any financial file you may have.

Edit: There is a step by step tutorial showing the whole import process on the cofounder’s personal blog (in spanish)

More enhancements - better account creation and budget tracking http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/09/19/more-enhancements-better-account-creation-and-budget-tracking/ http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/09/19/more-enhancements-better-account-creation-and-budget-tracking/#comments Fri, 19 Sep 2008 15:09:19 +0000 admin http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/09/19/more-enhancements-better-account-creation-and-budget-tracking/ We have pushed some minor but powerful changes today.

One is a new field on the account creation that lets you define a starting balance so that the newly created account show its real & up to date value.

The other enhancement is the possibility to browse through all months’ limits and their value in either past, current or future months. This way our users can keep a better track of their budgets by knowing which percentage they have spent or will spend on a particular tag.

Thanks to all users who sent their feedback on these!

Automated tagging when importing http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/07/17/automated-tagging-when-importing/ http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/07/17/automated-tagging-when-importing/#comments Thu, 17 Jul 2008 09:55:32 +0000 admin http://blog.moneytrackin.com/2008/07/17/automated-tagging-when-importing/ Importing files from your bank is an easy way for enter lots of transactions at once, but if you wanted to have a more accurate view of where was your money going you had to start tagging all the imported transactions one by one.

But today we’ve added a new feature to help on that process: Automated tagging

Automated tagging form

Using this new form you can set up as many filters as you want. Each filter consists in a text and a tag, and once you begin the importing process the app scans all description fields and if any of the filters matches then it add the specified tag.

In the above example all imported transactions containing the texts ‘gas station’ or ‘tesco’ would get tagged with ‘car’ and ‘groceries’ as appropriate. The match is performed in a case-insensitive manner (doesn’t distinguish between uppercase and lowercase).
