Moneytrackin’ new version released

September 27th, 2007 by admin

After a short period of closed beta testing we think it’s mature enough to be released to all our users.

Check the new Moneytrackin’ 2.0 out -> http://www.moneytrackin.com

Here is the press note:

MONEYTRACKIN’ LAUNCHES A MONEY SAVING COMMUNITY

Moneytrackin’, the leading online tool for personal accounting, has launched its redesigned website, improving its usability and adding new community features

BARCELONA, Spain – September 26, 2007 – Moneytrackin’, the leading online tool for personal accounting, has re-launched its website http://www.moneytrackin.com. The new website not only improves the company’s branding but also offers a better user interface. Meanwhile, the team has created the necessary infrastructure to offer its members a new community meeting point for those interested in saving money.

Moneytrackin’ was founded in May 2006 and is supported by important players from the IT, including Martin Varsavsky, founder of Jazztel, Ya.com and FON. Since being founded, 911,114 transactions have been inserted on its online tool, managing up to $208,353,077.

Now almost a year and a half after its founding, Moneytrackin’ has improved its website, redesigning its brand and launching together with the successful existing features, a new online social network, for people who want to save money.

Thanks to the new website, users can continue to manage their personal accounts, but now with an easier and more usable interface, and they can also join the moneytrackin’ community. The community acts as a “wikipedia” for money saving, and its members manage all of the community tips by rating and classifying them, add personal tips to save money, upload their pictures and value the best tips which are included in a savings “Hall of Fame”.

The new Community also offers a geolocalized tip sevice powered by Google Maps. This tool offers members local tips for saving money based on where they live. For example, they can check for the cheapest gas station in their city or town.

All of the tips are integrated into the personal accounting tool, and the system offers the information for saving money according to the member’s geographic location and the transactions included in the tool. For example, if the member has a monthly expense for the gym tracked in moneytrackin’, she will receive tips related to saving money in gym fees in her city or neighbourhood.

Moneytrackin’ aims to become the saving’s “Wikipedia” thanks to its new community generated input, offering this collective “savings” knowledge to people around the world.

New feature: Attach files to transactions

July 9th, 2007 by admin

We have added the possibility to attach a file to a transaction. For example now you can upload the invoice of that new laptop you bought last week, so you won’t lose it never (and some shops ask you for the invoice before processing any guarantee request!).

At the moment only images and pdf files are allowed, and the maximum permitted size is 3Mb.

Attaching a file is a very simple process:

  • Click on the new “Attach file” icon (Attach a file icon) of the desired transaction.

Attaching a file - first step

  •

  • The upload form will be displayed. Just enter a file description, choose the file to upload from your disk and click on the “Attach file” button.

    Attach a file form

  •

  • If the upload finishes successfully you’ll be returned to the transaction list and you’ll see the clip icon (Attached file) at the left of the chosen transaction. It’ll tell you that the transaction has an attached file, and clicking it you would open/download it. You can also remove the attached file by clicking on the “Delete attachment” icon (Delete attachment). If the upload process fails the error message would be displayed.

Enhanced Dashboard and More

June 28th, 2007 by admin

The purpose of the Dashboard is to allow you to keep a quick, ongoing glance at your overall finances through an easy display.

We have created a feature that lets you add external content, allowing you to include and update all your financial information that you want into your own Dashboard.

Enhanced Dashboard

The menu on the right has all of the necessary content for adding this information into your Dashboard. To add content, just drag the item from the menu into the middle area (below the “Summary” box). If you want to delete an item, then simply do the opposite: drag the item from the middle are to the menu on the right.

In “My Accounts” you’ll find all of the accounts you want. The next section is “Tools”. We will continue to add new tools. For now you have these:

    1. Stock portfolio. This tool allows you to see all of the companies and shares you own in your Stock Portfolio. You can configure up to 5 different companies in your portfolio, number of shares you own in each, how much purchased them for, and we’ll show you your unrealized gains or losses on each.
    2. Google finance market summary. Follow the performance of the major market indexes.

Finally, in the “News” section, we have included some financial news sources that we think will interest you. If you add any of these into your Dashboard, we’ll show you the latest news to get you up to date at all times.

Other improvements

Besides the Dashboard, we have been working on some of the other improvements you have been asking for:

- The Running Balance column on PDF & XLS reports

- A new button to clear the main account (deleting all of its transactions). Many people have requested this in order to fix an incorrect import without having to delete all of transactions one by one.

- Forgotten password recovery

New running balance column

June 15th, 2007 by admin

Another popular request implemented: We’ve added a new column on the transaction list view: the running balance. It works just as in almost all online banking sites, we display the accumulated balance next to the transaction amount value for an easy viewing.

Running Balance example

You can follow now your balance evolution at a glance and at the same time it lets you make more accurate predictions of your financial situation in upcoming months.
