Warning: some changes in periodic transactions

February 23rd, 2007 by admin

We’ve got rid of the unlimited periodic transactions. All the unlimited transactions already entered has been transformed into transactions with end date 01/01/2010. Explanation follows:

We love to hear what users like and dislike about our app, as well as their suggestions to keep improving.

Recurrent transactions are one of those problematic features that not all of our users understand and use, though is very powerful and handy.

We did it before (see this post) and today we’ve changed again its behaviour in order to make it easier to users:

- There are no unlimited transactions. Just enter the end date and don’t be afraid if it’s distant.

- All the movements are inserted at periodic transactions’ creation time. Finally we’ve eliminated our daily script that entered the movements as necessary. Anyway, future transactions are showed up on the list as foreseen transactions, and don’t get added to the balance until their date arrives.

From Moneytrackin’s blog I see that this was done on purpose because people were confused by the interface apparently, but it has me perplexed. If there are usability issues with the UI design, as a company they should fix those inteface issues, not remove features to “clear up the confusion”. [...]
